College Principal

Suzanne Duncan is the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of East Durham College, an appointment she has held since 3rd September 2012.

Hartlepool-born Suzanne has over 20 years experience in the further education sector and joined the College from Sunderland College, where she had worked for five and a half years in the role of Vice Principal. She also worked for a number of years as an Ofsted inspector.

Mrs Duncan,  who now lives in Durham, previously worked at East Durham College as Assistant Principal from 2003 to 2007 and was delighted to return to EDC.

“I am extremely privileged to have the opportunity to lead East Durham College in its development towards an outstanding college.

"We are one of the top performing colleges in the north east, a fact the whole college community is rightly very proud of, and we are well on the way to becoming outstanding.

Mrs Duncan was educated at Northumbria University, where she read BA (Hons) in Travel & Tourism Management. She went on to work in the travel industry for a number of years in London before returning to her native North East.

In her leisure time Suzanne is a keen follower of rugby, a passion shared by her husband and two sons (both of whom attended EDC).
