Course overview

This qualification is suitable for learners who wish to develop skills and knowledge in craft. This qualification aims to extend and further develop learners' skills and to extend learners' knowledge and understanding of the creative craft process.

It will enable learners to investigate creative enterprise and employment opportunities in the creative sector and provides a basis for progression onto further study.

Develop your knowledge and skills in textile crafts with our Level 2 Certificate in Creative Craft (Textiles). This course is all about exploring your interests and developing your crafting skills. You’ll explore textile materials and techniques such as printing, fabric dyeing, and embroidery. We’ll also look at colour theory, formal elements of art and craft, and some of the tools that are commonly used when creating textiles. There's also an enterprising unit where you will focus on promoting yourself and your business ideas.

Following successful completion of the course, some learners choose to work freelance within the creative sector, whilst others will seek employment or volunteering opportunities. Other learners may choose to progress to a higher level of study.

Further study options after this course

Following successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Creative Crafts, learners can progress to the UAL L2 Diploma in Art & Design or the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are needed for this qualification, however having a range of practical skills, a good level of written and spoken English to be able to construct a portfolio, and the ability to give and receive feedback, along with a keen interest in the subject, would be beneficial.

How is this course assessed?

Through 100% coursework /portfolio of work. You will complete a body of work for each unit, each unit will be assessed and graded by your teacher after each assessment deadline. Examples of work from all units will be sampled and assessed by an external moderator.

All work will need to be kept in College, until all external moderation has taken place.

Length of course

Part time, 16 weeks, 3.5 hours one evening a week.
