Canteen & Social Spaces
East Durham College provides dedicated canteen facilities at all of its sites for students. The canteens offer a diverse menu each day with numerous options to choose from.
The facilities at our Peterlee campus underwent a significant renovation and upgrade in 2023. The result is a modern and attractive catering area that offers a variety of hot food options as well as our very own Starbucks! In addition, there is a large social space within the canteen area, providing ample seating for students to enjoy their breakfast or lunch or hang out with friends while in college.
The menu features a variety of hot dishes to choose from, including Chicken Shawarma, Fish and Chips and Chicken Curry. For those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, there are delicious options available such as Vegetable Chow with Savoury Rice/Noodles, Vegetable Enchilada and Vegetable Rogan Josh.
The canteen at our Houghall Campus provides a similar selection of delicious meals as the Peterlee location and also boasts its very own Starbucks too! In the main canteen you can choose from a variety of hot dishes, fresh sandwiches, salads, soups, jacket potatoes, crisps, and confectionery. In addition, there are vending machines that offer a variety of snacks and drinks for your convenience.
Students at the Technical Academy can enjoy daily hot food, drinks, and confectionery from our 'Tech-Away' hatch.
