English & Maths for Adults (Functional Skills)

Whether you want to improve your English, progress at work, support your children with school, or take the next step in your education, our Functional Skills courses can help you get there.

Our friendly and supportive classes are designed for adults aged 19 and over, giving you the opportunity to learn at your own pace in a relaxed environment. With daytime and evening classes available, it's easier to fit learning around work, family and other commitments.

You'll work towards a nationally recognised Function Skills qualification up to Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/C), developing practical English and maths skills that you can use everyday.

Our Functional Skills English course focuses on the skills you need in everyday life, further study and the workplace.
You'll learn how to:

• Improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar
• Read and understand a wide range of texts
• Identify important information and read with confidence
• Write clear, effective emails, letters and reports

• Give advice and communicate your ideas clearly

Our Functional Skills Maths course focuses on the practical skills you need in everyday life, future study and the workplace.
You'll learn how to:

• Work confidently with numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages
• Use maths for budgeting, shopping and managing money
• Measure, estimate and calculate accurately
• Understand shapes, spaces and scale
• Read and interpret charts, graphs and tables.
• Solve real-life problems using maths
• Apply maths skills in work, study and everyday situations
