Student Attendance

Attendance for all students is monitored on a daily basis. If you are sick or have an emergency and can’t get into College then you (or someone on your behalf) must contact your Progression Coach by telephone before 9.30am.

Financial Support for Students (Overview)

Regardless of your ambition, finances should not be a barrier. Depending on your age, circumstances, and household income, we have various financial support options available to help you while you're studying with us.

Bursaries for Defined Vulnerable Groups (16-18 and 16-24 with an EHCP)

The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome the specific financial barriers to participation they face so they can remain in education.

Additional Learning Support (ALS)

We have a dedicated team of Learner Support staff who provide a highly effective support network across the college. We aim to provide high quality support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities to assist in the delivery of a quality learning experience.

Student Voice & Engagement Officer

The Student Voice & Engagement Officer works alongside elected students to help run the EDC Students’ Union; they facilitate the day-to-day interface between college management and the Students’ Union Officers and wider student body. This encourages active participation to promote the ‘Learner Voice’ in all college activities.

At East Durham College, we don’t just think about your time with us. Our courses, and everything we do, is designed to help you with making a career for yourself.
