Welcome to East Durham Sixth Form - ED6!
Our specialist sixth form provision is based at our Peterlee campus, and if you're seriously considering A Levels as an option when you leave school, there's no better option than us.
We've got the stats to back that up as well. ED6 has a proven track record of incredible results that help people get into the universities and ultimately the careers they want.
Great Pass Rates. Great Grades. Great University Destinations. A Great Sixth Form!
ED6 is all about helping the exceptional young people who choose to study with us to excel.
Our lecturers are dedicated to getting the very best out of our students, and that's why we're extremely proud to say that for the past nine years, ED6 students studying 3 A-levels or more have achieved a 99-100% pass rate on their exams.
On top of that, here's a few other facts you may want to know about ED6:
- We are the region's best-performing sixth form centre, with our students achieving a 99-100% pass rate on their exams for the past 9 years (2016 to 2024, students taking 3 or more A-levels).
- In 2023, a massive 22.4% of our students' grades were A*-A grades, 37.2% were A*-B grades and 57.9 were A*-C grades.
- The list of universities that ED6 students have recently progressed to is impressive, to say the least. It includes prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Imperial College London and Newcastle.
- We were ranked as the best college in the whole country for the progression students make from GCSE to A-Level in 2018 - something we are extremely proud of. This demonstrates that students of ED6 make more progress than what is expected of them based on their GCSE results than anywhere else in the country - this means that ED6 has a proven track record of boosting academic results.
- Smaller class sizes - we keep our classes smaller than other providers, ensuring that learners don't feel excluded and get direct tuition from our teaching staff.
On top of that, students go on to massive success after leaving us, moving on to study a wide range of degree programmes at universities all over the country (and even outside the country too!).
ED6 is based at East Durham College's Peterlee campus. We offer an excellent range of facilities for students and excellent tuition thanks to our highly qualified teaching staff.
With plenty of A Level options available, fantastic teaching from lecturers passionate about their subject, small-size classes to ensure you get the best experience and loads of other benefits like a FREE bus pass to and from your college, your own common room, Starbucks on-site and so much more, there's loads of reasons to consider ED6 for A Levels.
Smaller Sixth Form. BIGGER PROSPECTS.
Please note: A Levels are only offered as part of a full time study programme in our sixth form (16-19), they are not available to adults on a part time basis. Adult learners may be interested in joining our Access to HE Programme. The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university.

Introducing ED6 Pathways - Your Route to an Exceptional Future
At ED6, we're revolutionising A Level with Pathways.
Our elite Pathways are designed to give you a ticket straight to your dream university, and are tailor-made with perfect A Level combinations, work experience opportunities, exciting trips and so much more!
There are several different Pathway options to choose from. When learners first visit us, they'll sit down with our lecturers to discuss their future career goals, and we'll be able to recommend the right Pathway for you depending on what that goal is.
Each pathway provides bespoke, tailored guidance, high-quality teaching and a structured framework for progression towards higher education destinations and higher apprenticeships. Our goal is to ensure students are prepared to an exceptional standard for their next steps into university, higher apprenticeships and their future careers.
The Pathways have been created in response to the things universities are looking for - for example if you wanted to study to be a doctor, you'll need relevant A Levels to be accepted into university. So you might study our Medical Pathway, which includes mandatory A Levels in Chemistry, Biology and optional A Levels in Physics, Maths, Psychology or Computer Science.
By focusing on these specific A Levels within a Pathway, students are given the very best opportunities to secure prestigious university placements.
You can choose between the following Pathway options:
