Financial Support for Students (Overview)

Regardless of your ambition, finances should not be a barrier. Depending on your age, circumstances, and household income, we have various financial support options available to help you while you're studying with us.

Additional Learning Support (ALS)

We have a dedicated team of Learner Support staff who provide a highly effective support network across the college. We aim to provide high quality support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities to assist in the delivery of a quality learning experience.

Student Voice & Engagement Officer

The Student Voice & Engagement Officer works alongside elected students to help run the EDC Students’ Union; they facilitate the day-to-day interface between college management and the Students’ Union Officers and wider student body. This encourages active participation to promote the ‘Learner Voice’ in all college activities.

Discover Uni Website

The Discover Uni website (formally Unistats) provides comparable sets of information about full- and part-time undergraduate courses. It is run by the Office for Students and is designed to meet the information needs of prospective students.

LMI can help young people and their parents/carers to understand the salaries and promotion opportunities for different jobs.

EDC Counselling & Therapy Services

East Durham College's counselling/therapeutic service is an essential part of the services we offer to all our students to support them whilst they are studying with us.

Contraception & Sexual Health Clinic

If you need sexual health advice or condoms any other time you can get these from the Student Liaison Officer in Student Services.
