Our Level 2 Creative Media Production and Technology course is designed to give you a comprehensive overview of all things media; you'll be experiencing planning and producing, researching and creating, getting involved in filming and advertising and so much more.
You'll get the chance to work with lots of different types of media too, including photography, gaming, animation, radio, podcasts, moving image to name just a few!
Topics
The programme is 'learner responsive' which means we build projects around the learners who have chosen this programme of study.
Typically, projects include animation and radio, interactive media and multi camera TV. You will be given guidance over the development of projects, to help you develop the skills and knowledge to complete the project and progress in media.
You will also film live performances and events, create podcasts, potentially broadcasting via the college's internal system and also to the Creative Industries YouTube channel.
Job opportunities after this course
Progression after this programme could be to the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology. You will have exposure to a range of practical activities through workshops, live projects, events and work experience to develop practical skills and theoretical portfolios to prepare you for the next level of study.
A comprehensive work experience schedule provides a breadth of engagement with practitioners and potential for volunteer opportunities.
Further study options after this course
Students who achieve a 'Merit or Distinction' at L2 Diploma can progress on to UAL Level 3 Diploma Creative Media Production & Technology.
The UAL Level 2 Diploma provides a stepping stone into employment within the Media industry.
Entry requirements
You will need 5 GCSEs at any grade (including maths and English) and an interest/passion in media.
Our entry requirements are in place to support our students in achieving the qualifications they have chosen to study. In addition to the entry requirements, all students will be regularly assessed by East Durham College at an early stage in their study programme. This is to ensure that students are enrolled onto courses which suit their abilities – following assessment, there may be occasions when students are transferred to a relevant course at a higher or lower level in order to ensure they are enrolled on to the right course for them to achieve and progress.
Entry onto any course at EDC may have entry requirements in addition to exam results; this includes but is not limited to DBS checks, references, fitness to practice and at times physical requirements to be capable of achieving the practical elements of the course without assistance. Entry onto any course at East Durham College is subject to final approval from the Assistant Principal.
How is this course assessed?
There are 7 formative units delivered as 4 projects and graded as pass / fail. You will need to achieve a pass at each unit to progress on to the final project which is graded as 'Pass' / Merit / Distinction'.
All work is assessed internally by an Assessor, before being Internally and Externally Verified to check the marking is consistent.
