Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

Aims of the IQA Qualification are to support delegates to:
• Carry out the role and responsibilities of the internal quality assurer
• Have a better understanding of centre assurance systems
• Prepare to internally quality assure credit based provision

This programmes covers all aspects of the Internal Quality Assurance role.

Candidates must be over 19 years old to undertake the course. You must have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must already have completed the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (Assessors Award). You must be able to demonstrate competency through work place assessment. You must have access to at least two current assessors who are currently qualified to make assessment decisions and be supported by a Centre who meets awarding body requirements for the delivery of qualifications.

Our entry requirements are in place to support our students in achieving the qualifications they have chosen to study. In addition to the entry requirements, all students will be regularly assessed by East Durham College at an early stage in their study programme. This is to ensure that students are enrolled onto courses which suit their abilities – following assessment, there may be occasions when students are transferred to a relevant course at a higher or lower level in order to ensure they are enrolled on to the right course for them to achieve and progress.

Entry onto any course at EDC may have entry requirements in addition to exam results; this includes but is not limited to DBS checks, references, fitness to practice and at times physical requirements to be capable of achieving the practical elements of the course without assistance. Entry onto any course at East Durham College is subject to final approval from the Assistant Principal.

Assessment will be by written assignment and evidence of competency within the workplace.

Four training workshops within the 6 month period held at the Peterlee or Houghall Campus. Additional visits will be made by your assessor to your workplace to observe practice.
