The purpose is to introduce basic Carpentry and Joinery skills and knowledge to those who have either no, or very little, prior experience. This is an introductory Carpentry and Joinery course is run over 12 weeks, 3 hours each session (Tuesdays) and is aimed at adults, aged 19+, who have an interest in improving their home or might be interested in progressing onto our full time course.

The course is a Level 1 Award in Creative Craft with the emphasis on sewing and textiles, delivered over two evenings per week for six weeks. A range of sewing and textiles areas will be introduced through short projects that build into a portfolio

You could go on to study a wide range of healthcare, nursing and midwifery degrees at university with East Durham College's Ascentis Access to HE diploma. You may also progress to other related courses such as operating department practitioner, occupational health or social work, taught part-time on evenings or daytime.
